East Of Eden Part IV

2) Much is made of the differences between Cal and Aron, but What traits do they share? How do they deal with their respective senses of inadequacy?
Cal and Aron both have the trait of Capability. They both are Capable of great things and can be much more then a clone of their parents. They have the Capability to make everything in their surroundings better for them if they just put their mind to it. To deal with his respective sense inadequacy Cal decided to better himself find who he truly is and not live in his mothers shadow. He tried to abide by his will and better himself cause he is capable of doing so. As for Aron he did deal with his respective sense of inadequacy. He instead decided to run away from it instead of facing it. Instead of facing facts and taking things he escaped from it all by joining the military. He refused to face the truth of his father lying to him about his mother as an act of protecting him.

3) Both Adam in Part One and Aron in Part Four come to hate their fathers. Why? In what ways are Cyrus and Adam Trask alike in their ambitions for their sons?
Adam hate his father Cyrus because of all the things he was forcing to do that he did not want to. He was forcing Adam to become a man by joining the army which was not something that was in his interest. As for Aron he felt his dad, Adam, was putting too much pressure on him in wanting him to get a proper education. In the end making Aron believe he doesn't really care about him personally. Cyrus And Adam Trask are alike in their ambitions for their sons in wanting the best for their son. They both wanted their son to have experience that would benefit them in life not seeing all this is putting to much o them. Their ambitions made them blinded to what their sons truly need or wanted to be treated/loved.

4) How is Aron's imagination of Abra similar to Adam's inability to see nothing, but what he wants to see in Cathy? What does their infatuation suggest about the state of innocence and purity?
They both are so consume with the love they have for that person they refuse to see the real person are just stuck on a facade. They only ever see one side of things meaning they never see the both side of anything. It shows that their infatuation suggest that the state of innocence and purity is very gullible. It as if they are blinded to what goes on in their surrounding only changing by outer appearance and not inner appearance.

5) Is Aron's obsession with goodness and purity a form of self-indulgence?
In way, Aron's obsession with goodness and purity is a form of self-indulgence. For self-indulgence succumb to your desires or to your own ideals. Him trying to be good and only see things with a pure eyes is him believe that's how he has to be. He believes it is the only way to be for everyone to like you and feel that you are considered a good person. When in reality that's not how it works. He is just going by his own ideals in everything whether it is in life or when it comes to a girl/women he wants to be with.
